Gestalt Community Schools

Gestalt Community Schools (GCS) is a system of K-12 college-preparatory charter schools in targeted Tennessee communities. Instead of debating whether education impacts the community or vice versa, GCS believes that the most effective method to support student achievement is an integration of education and community (a true "gestalt"). In 2011, Power Center Academy, GCS’s first middle school, was honored as the highest performing middle school in the state of Tennessee.  This fall GCS will open its second middle school, Gordon Science and Arts Academy, near the Crosstown community through a partnership with the Achievement School District. GCS was recently awarded $3.5M by the Charter School Growth Fund to aid in their effort to expand to 10 schools in the next four years, serving more than 5,300 scholars.
